End of Second battle of Fort Wagner.
TranscriptionMonday Sept. [September] 7, 1863; Capt. [Captain] Pratt was on duty from 12 o'c midnight to 8 o'c A.M. He carried the sap forward to the ditch on the left of Fort Wagner. Lt. [Lieutenant] Wilcken was on duty from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. He built traverse in Fort Wagner. Buried dead horses, other filth in Fort Wagner. Filled up the ditch to keep out the water. Removed nine (9) torpedoes. Lieut. [Lieutenant] M. Adams was on duty from 4 P.M. to 12 midnight. His detail was employed in collecting material.
