Transcription[Letter, continued] [detailed drawing of trenches, 4th and 5th Parallels] These trenches would serve as shelters for the accumulation of troops previous to a genaral assault being given. These trenches being furnished with two means of ingress or egress, by their own zig-zag connection, and by the main-beach line, would not be able to be choked up. Respectfully; Your Obed [Obedient] Servt [Servant]; John L. Suess; Capt. [Captain] NY [New York] Vol [Volunteer] Engr [Engineers]
