Transcription("Copy") Vol. [Volunteer] Engineer Regiment; Hilton Head; April 3, 1862; Minutes of a meeting held at Captain Neale's Tent, Capt. [Captain] Walker President, Thos [Thomas] P. Rushby Secy [Secretary]; Present; Capts. [Captains] Atwood, Neale, Walker and Eaton and Lieuts [Lieutenants] Flynn, Withers, Weatherby, McKenna, Hartman, Vernam and Rushby; The following Resolutions were unanimously adopted; 1st Resolved that the Commandants of Companies put the question to their several Companies whether they will receive infantry pay under protest.; 2nd Resolved that as we are not recognized by Congress as Vol. [Volunteer] Engineers, and do not receive the pay and emoluments of the Engineers of the Regular Army, immediate steps be taken to have this Regiment mustered out of the service; provided that this Regiment be not constituted, by act of Congress, an Engineer Regt [Regiment] within a reasonable time.
