TranscriptionMonday July 13th; Genl. [General] Gillmore ordered siege Batteries be built against Ft. Wagner on right about 1250 yards from Wagner for light rifled guns and on left on [Hammock?] for siege guns and mortars at about [blank] yards. Col. [Colonel] Serrell was verbally directed to take charge of them on the right. Gen. [General] Seymour and Capt. [Captain] Brooks went into him by orders of Gen. [General] [????] to pour out the ground and make suggestions in regard to the details. Gen. [General] Gillmore directed that in the right Batteries should be placed 4-3" Rifled (Redan) Guns; 6-10 Pdr. Parrotts; 6-Wierd Rifled Field Guns; Col. [Colonel] Serrel requested an Infantry detail of 200 men for Right Batteries. Capt. [Captain] Brooks at his request was sent by Gen. [General] Gillmore to help start the work. He did so. Col.
