Transcriptioncame on the work from Folly Isle at abt. [about] 12 o'c. Parapet was about 1/2 or 2/3rd finished; Tuesday July 14th 1863; Capt. [Captain] Brooks received orders at noon today to Begin work on Batteries on Left in [Hammock?]. Began a 4-10" Siege Mortar Bat. [Battery] in old Reb. [Rebel] Bat. [Battery] at noon. This Battery and the 4 Mortar Bat. [Battery] built to left of it by Lt. [Lieutenant] Wilson are called Battery O'Rorke. Baldwin Vol. [Volunteer] Eng. [Engineer] in charge; 15 Engr. [Engineers] and 25 Infantry; Work on right in [????] of Col. [Colonel] Serrell who was ordered to build our obsticle [obstacle] in front of it.
