Parable written by Brooks about a ruler of a kingdom and his appointed captain. The people loved the ruler but believed him wrong for not changing the captain, who was not a fighting man.
TranscriptionA Parable; The Ruler of a certain Kingdom which was at war employed as Chief of one of his Navals a Captain, who was learned in the art of making guns, and who was unto all a goodly man and much beloved by his ruler. But it so happened that this Captain was not a fighting man. Now because the people were engaged in gunfire they and their [????] of war cried out and said to their ruler let us change this captain of our navy for one who will "go in" and [strike?] the enemy even as "Gillmore" has done.
